2019 Streng Bros. Sacramento Mid-Century Modern Home Tour

This week the new issue of Atomic Ranch hits newsstands.  The cover features Robert A. Maurer's 1974 Streng dream home.  Last month we were fortunate enough to tour this incredible home and five more on 'Sacramento Modern's' "60 Years of Streng Bros. Homes - 2019 Sacramento Mid-Century Modern Home Tour."  

While we strive to live in our own Mid-Century Modern one day, there could not have been a better event to get inspiration.  A huge thanks to all six homeowners for allowing us and crowds of people to parade through your breathtaking homes.  Thank you Sacramento Modern for putting on such an awesome event and keeping the mid-century spirit alive in the City of Trees.

Of the six homes on the tour we definitely had our favorites.  The first was 5404 Home Court in Carmichael; A 1975 Streng Bros. "Atrium II" floor plan owned by couple Heather and David Hadley.  They both work in design which becomes apparent as you walk into the space.  From technical graphics of the tower bridge to their desired Kaws collection, this home had us feeling creative and motivated.  Being plant parents ourselves we could not get enough of that damn atrium!

Another show stopper on the tour was 5220 Overbrook Way in Sacramento; A 1968 'Classic' Streng Bros. home also known as, This Pink Door.  

To no surprise the Overbrook home was Jessica's (the wife) favorite on the tour.  Owners Juju and Wes Steed purchased the home in 2015 after selling another mid-century modern in South Land Park.  The musical couple have made this home their own with several little touches throughout the interior and exterior clearly conveying their personaltiies.  The front yard xeriscape features a curated selection of cacti, succulents, and pink grasses to match the jaw-dropper of a front door.  

House C on the tour was 5045 Holyoke Way in Sacramento; A 1964 Streng Bros. "Classic II" that we began referring to as "The Atomic House."  You will very quickly learn why...

Owners Nancy Rosellini and Glynn Owens are living full-time in their vacation home!  Their Sacramento Streng is a solid example of clean, mid-century modern meets tiki and Hawaiian vibes; A match made in heaven!  The sharp Danish design aesthetics are impeccable, with straight lines and natural flow throughout the home.  From the Shag piece to that burning front door, this Overbrook Streng checked all the boxes.  

And that brings us to the Atomic Ranch cover boy; The finale if you will.  The Streng at 7629 Northeast Circle in Citrus Heights was Tyler's (the husband) favorite home on the tour and it doesn't take a mid-century genius to see why...

Robert A. Maurer's 1974 "Transitional" Streng is certainly one of a kind.  Together with Glen Warren - co-owner of Commuter Industries, Robert has been bringing his dream home to life since the moment he received the keys.  With the focus being restore over renovate Robert and Glen have progressed using period appropriate ideas executed with modern polish.     

 

While we somehow missed taking photos of the kitchen, the twelve-page spread in the new Atomic Ranch issue covers the span of the entire house with a solid article by Devlin Smith and magnificent photography by Chip Allen.
